About Terry Barber
Being able to sing in the range of a countertenor is a very rare talent. Terry Barber is one of the few vocalists in the world that can proudly call himself a countertenor.
Barber’s talents have taken him all around the world. He is known for his ability to sing opera, classical, gospel, jazz and folk music in many different languages. He has performed these pieces on some of the world’s most prestigious stages including New York City’s Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall, Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall and London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall.
As an internationally renowned vocalist, Terry Barber has worked with many of the music industry’s most esteemed songwriters, composers and producers. Barber has appeared on albums with award-winning, musical icons such as Chaka Khan, Madonna and Cyndi Lauper.
Barber was a full-time member of the Grammy-winning ensemble Chanticleer and has been featured on recordings for many major recording labels including Sony Classical, Warner Teldec, EMI, Columbia Records and his own record label, rEvolv Music.
He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University and holds a Masters degree in music performance from London’s Trinity College of Music. After receiving his Masters, Barber accepted a position at the college to teach advanced vocal ensembles.
Terry Barber has always had a passion for using his musical talents to benefit his community. Having gone through this rewarding process, he wanted to assist other artists who were interested in sharing their talents in a similar way. In 2009 he founded the nonprofit organization, Artists for a Cause, which creates professional and educational opportunities for visual and performing artists whenever their art is being used for community improvement. In addition to his work at Artists for a Cause, Barber also is the Head of Faculty for the Treasure Coast College of Fine Arts.
